I’ve had airlines lose fly rods and fishing tackle on several trips. To save this hassle, for the past 15 years I’ve shipped my rods and extra tackle to a friend or a lodge at my destination with UPS 2 weeks before my trip. This way I can track it or call to be sure its there before I leave home. On my return trip I issue a call tag with UPS to pick up these items the day after I fly back.
