Review of Angling in 2010-Part 1

Trout

The trout fishing in Virginia was excellent in 2010 especially in the Appalachian and Blue Ridge Mountains. There were good numbers of wild trout with many large trout and great hatches. The net result was that we had excellent dry fly fishing from March until November. The low stream levels late in the summer necessitated a stealthy approach but once this was mastered the angling was very gratifying.

</a We were fortunate to be able to fish in Argentina, Alaska, Montana and Wyoming as well as all over the east for trout this past year. We’ll be glad to help you if you have questions concerning the proper tackle and flies to use in these areas to fish and guides if you need them. </a The next issue of this review will cover the smallmouth bass fishing we experienced in 2010. The third issue will cover my predicitions of the fishing we can expect in 2011 for trout. The fourth issue will cover what I expect the smallmouth fishing well be in 2011 covering the best tactics and flies.
