Personally I find entomology very interesting and it can help you catch more trout. However, don’t be afraid of it because many streams have very few heavy hatches. For example, when I did my study of the trout streams in the Blue Ridge Mountains starting in the 70’s and continuing until today I found that there were only five different insects which produced what I would call heavy hatches.
