Beat The Heat

During the summer many trout streams become so warm the trout slow down in their feeding. I’ve seen an increase of 2 or 3 degrees above the normal temperature at that time do this. To compensate for this I carry a stream thermometer and check any small feeder streams or springs that enter the stream. Often these may be much cooler than the main stream and will afford excellent fishing below where they enter the stream. On streams you fish regularly you’ll get to know these feeders and can adjust your tactics accordingly.
