Winterizing a Fly Rod

Put your fly rod away in the proper condition for the winter and it will look better, last longer and cast better next spring.
1- Use a tooth brush with water and dish detergent to scrub the grip, reel seat and blank paying special attention to the guides and the area around them.
2- Rinse everything thoroughly and set it aside to dry for a week.
3- Put Glide Line Dressing on a paper towel and rub down the blank and area around the guides thoroughly.
4- Use a dry, clean paper towel and rub down the whole rod thoroughly to remove all of the Glide.
5- Use Murray’s Ferrule Dressing to apply a light coating to all Ferrules.
6- Set the rod aside for a week to dry thoroughly then put it in a rod sac and tube so its ready for your next trip.
