Twisted Line

Trying to fish with a twisted fly line on one’s reel is a hassle. This can be corrected very easily. Here are two methods which work well for me. 1. While standing in a river remove the fly from the leader and cast straight downstream. Strip off 60 feet of line and let it hang downstream five minutes. When you reel it in it will be fine. 2. The office in my fly shop is 50 feet straight above Stoney Creek. Here I strip 50 feet of line off my reel and half hitch it around the reel foot and hang the reel out of my window. After a half hour the twists are removed and I pull the reel back in and crank the line onto the reel.
