Too Good To Be True

In low clear trout streams it is very easy to be tempted to make ones first presentation to that trout you just saw come and take a natural fly in the tail of the pool as you perused the pool from well below it. Certainly this is possible but this may turn out to be a very small trout and the commotion you make as you land him will probably spook the larger trout further up in the pool. A better ploy would be to carefully evaluate the whole pool and watch for other rise forms or try to spot the larger trout on their feeding stations further up in the pool.
