The Scientific Anglers Indicators (discontinued and replaced by Murray’s Fly Shop Indicators )are extremely valuable to the smallmouth angler. After showing the students on the stream in my smallmouth schools how to properly use these, their statement is frequently, “I can’t believe how much difference they make”.
Placing one in the butt of my Bright Butt Knotted Leader and one in the next strand down they:
1-Enable you to see if your fly is swinging properly in the current where you want it.
2-Help you see if you are getting the depth you need.
3-Detect the strikes.
