Quick Water

Three inches of rain in two days can raise the water level in mountain trout streams, but if the water temperature is between 50 and 60 degrees the trout will still feed. However, they apparently don’t like to fight the heavy currents. Consequently, they move into protected feeding stations such as back eddies and the slower sections of the pools along the sides of the pools. Some of these areas will actually be dry when the stream drops back to normal, but in the full stream they are preferred feeding stations.
