Plenty of Rain 5-22-2020

South Fork Shenandoah River Stream Flow Gauge Snapshot of high water from 5/23/2020

Up to 2″ of rain fell overnight across the Shenandoah Valley. The result is a lot of extra water in the Shenandoah River.
The South Fork of the Shenandoah is currently (07:35) high from Luray, VA (Rt.211) to the South (upstream).
The North Fork of the Shenandoah (07:35) is currently high from Mt. Jackson, VA to the South (upstream).
Both forks of the Shenandoah are near their crest in these areas. The areas to the North such as Front Royal and Strasburg will see this extra water as the Memorial Day weekend progresses.
Check the USGS Streamflow Gauges for the most current levels before you head out.
We will be open today from 9a-3p, give us a call if you need help figuring out where to fish.
The streams within the George Washington National Forest and Shenandoah National Park pretty much all received rainfall but are not too high for productive fishing.
Enjoy, be safe and please don’t overcrowd the streams and trails.
