Murray’s Fly Shop 60th Anniversary

Murray's Fly Shop

In 1962 I opened my pharmacy right out of college and in the back corner of the building started Murray’s Fly Shop. I grew up in Edinburg, VA right beside the North Fork of the Shenandoah River. Therefore many evenings after work, I would take my fly rod and fish a few hours for smallmouth bass. On my days off in the spring, I would head to the native brook trout streams in the Shenandoah National Park.

Over the years, the fly shop slowly expanded from the small corner in the back to half of the building. We went from mailing out catalogs to featuring everything online. The first book I wrote was typed on a typewriter–big difference from the computer world we live in now.

I used to teach all of the on the stream fly fishing schools and now my son, Jeff, teaches them. I closed the pharmacy about six years ago and expanded the fly shop to the entire building. We ship orders to customers all over the United States. Although many things have changed in the 60 years, one this is the same–Murray’s Fly Shop would not be here without all of our supportive customers over the years. So, Thank You and we hope to see you again soon.

Be sure to stop by the fly shop and sign our 60th Anniversary Banner. 1962-2022
