Learn From the Master

Ed Shenk is one of the most accomplished angler’s I’ve ever fished with and he taught me a great deal

Ed Shenk has taught me a great amount about trout fishing.  His insight of the natural foods that are available to these trout and linking this to his skills in tying flies is easily seen in the very effective flies he has designed.  His Letort Cricket and Letort Hopper are my favorite two flies in these groups.  I’ve caught so many large trout on his Cress Bug that this is always the first fly I put on when I see trout feeding in the shallows on rich spring creeks and tail waters.  Ed’s Sculpin and White Streamer mimic two very important minnows on trout streams and smallmouth rivers.  When I’m after large fish I rely strongly on these two streamers..

Many of the largest trout I’ve caught in the Rockies as well as in the East have been caught on flies Ed has designed….I never want to be without them.
