Large smallmouth bass frequently do not feed heavily in the bright sunny conditions we have now. However, you can get good action by fishing the heavily shaded banks where the water is 3 to 4 feet deep over cobblestone stream bottoms during the middle of the day. At dawn and dusk you can catch many large bass in the tails of the pools and below the riffles.
