Hackle Quality

I firmly believe that the quality of the hackle on a dry fly is more important than the color. When I started tying flies I could afford only one top quality Metz Rooster Neck so I got a grade one Brown Neck and six colors of fly rite dubbing body material. I used this neck for the hackle and tails of all my dry flies but used the proper body color dubbing. I used this on my Quill Gordons, March Browns, Light Cahills, Sulphurs, Beatis and even Black Ants and I sure caught many trout.
