Go Natural

I had tried a dozen different trico patterns on a big brown that was rising regularly on the hatch and he would not take any of them. Marinaro calmly suggested, “Relocate and try a different angle of presentation.” I did this and the brown took the first cast (a fly he had refused earlier). Vince was correct, apparently my first casting position had not allowed a natural drift; the trout could tell this even though it looked fine to us.
