Ferrule Tip

I was fishing beside a good friend on the Madison River when I heard him exclaim, “Oh no”. Looking at the river I saw he had cast the 4 1/2 foot tip section of his 9 foot rod off the rod. It had snapped the fly off and went drifting down the river…We never did find it. This could happen to anyone, but applying ferrule dressing to your ferrules every sixth trip will prevent this problem.
