Fast Bass Action

Some of the finest smallmouth fishing one can hope for can be found in the tails of the pools the last hour of daylight with surface bugs such as the Shenandoah Chuggar and Shenandoah Slider. Find tails of pools with water hip to waist deep over cobblestone stream bottoms. Start at the riffle below it and wade very slowly upstream. Cast upstream and fan your casts over the whole tail of the pool. Use a very slow strip-pause-strip retrieve so your bug is going just slightly faster than the current…Very exciting!
