Often when I’m fishing for smallmouth bass I see carp feeding in the shallows along the banks. Sometimes I see them tailing and sometimes I see mud drifting downstream below them as they dig out food. Casting a fly such as Murray’s Brown Carp size 8 three feet upstream of them and swimming it slowly to them along the stream bottom often bring a strike. Then be prepared to chase them.
