Fly Fishing with Bass Nymphs Part 1

Fly fishing with bass nymphs is a staple during the summer months on the Shenandoah River. Among them, the Rubber Leg Nymph is one of our absolute go-to flies when rivers run low and clear. When conditions get tough, this is the first pattern our guides reach for in their fly boxes.

Harry Murray recorded this video a few years back, but his advice and techniques remain just as effective for today’s anglers.

While it’s a proven producer on smallmouth rivers, don’t put it away when bass season winds down—many anglers rely on this same nymph on stocked trout streams for rainbows and browns from October through April.
