Photographing the winter has provided quite an enjoyable fill in for the lack of productive fishing. Not from lack of trying. But photographing the days of winter are nearly as rewarding as that first 70 degree day in April when the Quill Gordons fill the air over my favorite Blue Ridge Mountain Native Brook Trout stream. Interesting subjects are abundant however small or large I am in the mood to find. Getting out and feeling the winter first hand is tough to beat and tossing a fly rod in the back seat along with a few flies seems to make the temperature rise a few degrees.
