Smallmouth fly fisherman in Virginia are very fortunate to have five blue ribbon rivers from which to choose. Whenever you find yourself in Virginia you are just a short cast from one of these fine rivers. For example, the Shenandoah River and its two forks give you great fishing in the Northern part of the state. The James River and the Rappahannock River give you over two hundred miles of fast smallmouth action as they drain east in the middle of the state. The New River cuts from North Carolina through Virginia before it turns west into West Virginia with great action all the way. Finally, the beautiful Clinch River in the remote southwest corner of Virginia give some of the most exciting top water smallmouth fly fishing one could want.
