There are many natural inchworms along the trout streams now and the fish feed heavily upon them. Actually as the season progresses there are several other worm-like critters along the trout streams and I’ve had great fishing with Murray’s Inchworm Dry 14 from now until October.
When these natural worms tumble onto the stream they lack the delicacy of aquatic insects. In fact, they often land with a splash. I usually try to duplicate this splash when I make my presentation casts because it really attracts some of the largest trout. There are two presentation casts which help me deliver my Inchworm in this manner. One is a regular roll cast and the other is to overpower the regular presentation cast with a firm snap of my wrist at the very last second.
