I have 3 rules for myself in rattlesnake country. 1- Don’t walk through laurel or deep weeds when you can’t see where you are stepping. 2- Don’t reach up over boulders to climb up the stream if you can’t see where you are putting your hands. 3- Don’t step across large logs lying on the ground until you look across the ground until you look across them to be sure it is safe.
