Snake Knocker

When I’m walking through deep weeds or laurel so thick I can’t see where I’m stepping I use a “Snake Knocker” in country that might have rattlesnakes or copperheads. In my case this is a 50 inch long Folstaff Wading Staff, but if you don’t use a wading staff you can simply use a long stick. I use this to knock the grass ahead of me so I can see the snake or prompt him to move before I step on him. An extra benefit is that I use this in a chopping action to knock down itch weed so I don’t have to walk through it.
