Good bass fishing begins in mid April. The streamers such as Murray’s Magnum Creek Chub size 4 and Murray’s Olive Marauder size 6 are effective when fished slowly along the stream bottom. By mid May you can start catching large bass below the riffles on Murray’s Heavy Black Hellgrammite size 4 and Shenk’s White Streamer size 6.
June brings on good surface fishing with Shenandoah Blue Poppers size 6 and Shenandoah Chartreuse Popper size 4. As the aquatic grass beds develop in July and August you will catch many nice fish along these with Silver Outcast Streamers and Shenandoah Sunfish Sliders size 6. The Hexagenia Mayflies hatch in September, providing exciting dry fly fishing with a Mr. Rapidan Dry Skater. As the streams cool in October many large bass move into the deep pools where the Murray’s Magnum Darter and Magnum Hog Sucker will help you catch some very large bass.
