Shade

Large bass are much more prone to feed heavily in the shade than in bright sunlight. Naturally, dusk, dawn and overcast days help us in this respect. However, you can catch some large bass in the middle of the day by fishing the heavily shaded banks. Where you find the shaded banks over water from hip deep to chest deep over cobblestone stream bottoms you have a good chance to catch large bass. Fishing a Murray’s Heavy Black Hellgrammite, Magnum Bluegill Streamer or a Gray Chuggar tight against these banks is a very effective tactic.
