Listen to Harry Murray describe the Murray’s Crayfish fly pattern in both Olive and Brown color. The Murray’s Crayfish is available in both colors in sizes #6 and #10. We typically use the size 6 for bass and the size 10 for trout though both sizes have been known to work on bass and trout. In the low water we often have in late summer we dig out a size 10 for wary smallmouth bass on the Shenandoah. While fishing the Murray’s Crayfish in size 10 during low water, I can often get by without using split shot or added weight of any kind. Combining a lack of weight with a 3x fluorocarbon leader will allow you a delicate presentation which will hopefully not spook the fish.
