Flashing Fly Lines Can Scare Trout

Trout are always wary of strange movements over the stream. From the time they were finglings they learned to flee from snakes and birds or any strange movements overhead. This natural instinctive fear carries into their adult lives and a fly line flashing back and forth over the pool can scare them long before the fly lands on the water. If you need to false cast to measure your casts or to dry your fly do this well to the side of where you plan to deliver your fly so the trout see your flashing fly line.
