Delicate Strike

A gentle “slip strike” will save you many large trout as Jeff Murray shows

In order to hook those midge feeding trout with a size 24 fly on 7X I like to use a “slip strike”. Here I set the hook with my line hand with the line held lightly between the first finger and thumb of my line hand and as soon as I feel the hook penetrate the trouts jaw I open my fingers.
