Control the Drift

As the trout streams get low late in the season we know the trout become very wary. There is a natural tendency for us to make longer and longer casts. This is fine but it often means our flyline and leader will fall on several mixed currents which will cause our fly to drag unnaturally and the trout will quickly refuse it. A better ploy is to cautiously crawl into a concealed casting position that will permit you to use a shorter cast and make a slack line presentation which will give you a natural fly drift and you’ll catch your trout.
