My 99 year old fishing partner, Doc, says he has trouble with his balance when wading a stream. I’m a long way from 98 years old but this spring when I slipped and fell into 40 degree water up to my chest I realized I was not as surefooted as I was 20 years ago. So, I asked the trainer in the gym I work out in if there are exercises that could help my balance. She took me to a 3 foot square 1 foot high trampoline type gadget and had me balance on this with each foot separately for 10 seconds for ten reputations. After a month I could tell this helped. However, since I’m not at the gym everyday I set up a rig at home for this. Stacking 2 old living room chair cushions on top of each other was perfect. Using my trainers program once a day on these cushions for a month has helped tremendously. If you try this for several weeks and feel you are getting good at it then do it with your eyes closed. Suprise!
